IRIS is an EU-project co-creating smart and sustainable cities by focusing on the intersection of energy efficiency, renewable energy, e-mobility and ICT. We are 43 partners from all over Europe focusing on demonstrating and replicating sustainable solutions.
In IRIS 43 partners work together demonstrating and testing new solutions – all with the ambition to be replicated by smart cities globally.
“We want the really good solutions to reach the market beyond the project. The next city to adopt the integrated solutions of IRIS might very well be yours.”, says Jonas Norrman, Partner, IMCG, and Business model manager, IRIS.
Utrecht and Nice on the benefits of integrated solutions of IRIS
IMCG met up with two of our project partners, the City of Utrecht in Utrecht and EDF in Nice, to get their view on what IRIS means to them.
”IRIS offers a perfect framework for testing new solutions”, says Christian Keim, Project manager, EDF.
”A city innovation platform within the IRIS project will stir innovation of data services and challenge new companies – start-ups – to develop new services that will benefit the citizens.” says Mirjam Harmelink, Project manager, City of Utrecht.
IRIS – Integrated and Replicable Solutions for Co-Creation in Sustainable Cities
IRIS is a five-year Horizon 2020 funded project led by the three lighthouse cities Utrecht, Gothenburg and Nice. The cities engage a mix of universities and research organisations, local authorities, innovation agencies and private expertise. IMCG works horisontally, not only with the lighthouse cities, but also with the follower cities both within and outside the project.
Want to know more about replication?
If your city is interested in learning more about the sustainable solutions demonstrated in the IRIS project, please contact Jonas Norrman or Ulrika Wahlström. Recently, a delegation from Santiago, Chile, visited Gothenburg and got inspired by what was displayed in the demonstration district of Johanneberg campus.
